Sim Map Poster & Print
Sim is a small town in the Chelyabinsk region of Russia, on the western slopes of the Southern Urals. It takes its name from the Sim River, which winds through a valley surrounded by forested hills. Like many Ural towns, it began in the 18th century as an ironworks, and the map still reflects that origin: the settlement follows the river and a dammed pond that once powered the works.
The street pattern stretches along the valley rather than spreading evenly. Rows of houses, many of them wooden, line streets that run parallel to the water and then climb the side slopes. The pond is the widest open shape in the drawing, and the old industrial area sits beside the dam. Beyond the last streets, dense forest takes over.
A Sim map poster shows a classic Ural factory-town layout on a small scale. Here the river, the pond and the works came first, and the streets followed. It is a clear, readable composition, ideal for anyone connected to the town or interested in how industry shaped settlement across the Urals.

Factory pond
A dammed pond, typical of Ural ironworks towns, forms the largest open shape on the map. It marks the historical centre where the works and the settlement first took shape.
Hillside streets
Residential streets climb the slopes of the valley in parallel rows. Their stepped pattern gives the print a sense of the surrounding terrain, even in flat black and white.
