The Solimões bank
The town's streets run along the river's northern shore, so the curve of the bank forms a long, clean edge that anchors the composition and gives the map its horizontal pull.

Tonantins Map Poster & Print
Tonantins sits on the northern bank of the Solimões, the stretch of the Amazon that runs through western Amazonas state. From above, the town is a small cluster of streets holding to the higher ground by the water, with the great river filling one side of the frame and forest pressing in on the others. The line between built ground and open water is the defining edge of the whole map.
The town takes its name from the Tonantins river, which joins the Solimões nearby, and much of daily life here depends on the water. Boats rather than roads link the town to the rest of the region, so the map shows no highway leading away, only a compact grid that stops where the forest begins. That sense of an island of streets in green is unusual on any map.
A Tonantins map poster keeps this contrast simple and legible. The river becomes a broad pale shape, the streets a fine black lattice beside it, and the channels, sandbanks and side-waters of the Solimões add soft, irregular lines. Rendered in black and white, a place that is usually described in terms of colour and scale becomes a quiet study of water, ground and edge.

A tributary mouth
The Tonantins river meets the Solimões close to town, adding a second waterway that bends into the main channel and breaks the straight line of the shore.
A compact street grid
With no road connection beyond the forest, the built area stays small and tight, a short grid of streets that reads clearly even at the smallest print size.

Miért Tonantins?
Egy térkép, ami jelent valamit
For people from Tonantins, or anyone who has travelled the Solimões by boat, this map holds the particular scale of the place: a town defined by one river and surrounded by forest. It is a reminder of a journey, a family origin or a stretch of work far upstream.
You can set your own title and subtitle, add a date or a line of coordinates, and choose between Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. Blueprint suits the river especially well, while Paper gives the forest edge a softer, warmer tone.
