La mappa
Abbey Wood Map Poster & Print
Abbey Wood is on the south-eastern edge of London, across the boundary of the boroughs of Greenwich and Bexley. From above, it falls into distinct layers. North of the railway, the flat former marshland stretches towards Thamesmead and the river. To the south, the ground rises into curving suburban streets and then into the dense green shape of Lesnes Abbey Woods.
The area is named after Lesnes Abbey, founded in 1178. Its ruins still sit on a slope at the edge of the woods, and their outline appears on the map as a small formal plan inside the park. Abbey Wood station is now the south-eastern terminus of the Elizabeth line, so the neighbourhood is directly connected to central London.
An Abbey Wood map poster shows how clearly London's edges keep their different characters. The straight line of the railway, the bends of interwar and postwar streets, the open ground to the north and the unbroken mass of the woodland to the south all fit comfortably within one frame.

Railway and Elizabeth line
The rail line crosses the area from east to west and divides the rising suburbs from the flatter land to the north. The station sits at its centre.
Marshland to the north
Towards Thamesmead the ground is flat reclaimed marsh, with long roads, lakes and planned estates that look quite different from the older streets uphill.

Perché Abbey Wood
Una mappa che ha un significato
The poster suits people who live in Abbey Wood or grew up there, commuters who have watched the area change since the Elizabeth line opened, and anyone who walks in the woods. It captures one corner of London in detail rather than the whole city.
You can set a custom title, subtitle and coordinates, perhaps marking a move-in date, and choose from five styles. Printed posters come on matte paper with an optional wooden frame, and HD downloads cost $9.
