The promenade
The seafront traces a smooth arc along Cardigan Bay, from the foot of Constitution Hill past the pier to the castle headland. It is the clearest line on the map.

La mappa
Aberystwyth Map Poster & Print
Aberystwyth sits on Cardigan Bay on the west coast of Wales, and its map is framed by the sea. The promenade follows a long curve of shoreline between Constitution Hill to the north and the castle headland to the south. The rivers Rheidol and Ystwyth meet near the harbour, and the town centre is packed into the narrow ground behind the seafront.
It is a university town. Aberystwyth University's Penglais campus spreads over the hill to the east, next to the National Library of Wales, one of the country's major cultural institutions. Constitution Hill has a cliff railway up its seaward face, and the ruins of a thirteenth-century castle stand on the headland beside the old town.
An Aberystwyth map poster brings these parts together: the curved seafront, the pier, the tight streets of the centre, the harbour where the rivers meet and the campus roads on the hill. The coastline gives the composition a strong, simple edge, and the hills keep the town compact, so the whole of it fits comfortably in one frame.

Harbour and rivers
The Rheidol and Ystwyth meet near the harbour at the south of the town, adding curving water channels next to the dense streets.
Penglais hill
The university campus and the National Library occupy the slope east of the centre, with looping campus roads that contrast with the old town's grid.
