Streets rarely run straight for long. They bend around creeks, school grounds and wooded lots, then meet the long diagonal of Old York Road, the historic route that once linked Philadelphia with New York.
Although it is a township rather than a city, Abington holds several distinct centres: the hospital campus near Old York Road, the Penn State Abington campus with its lawns and tree lines, and the commercial area around Willow Grove Park Mall.
