Dense town core
The centre is made up of closely packed lanes and small blocks with no rigid grid. The pattern is typical of long-settled Deccan market towns and looks striking in black and white.

La mappa
Afzalpur Map Poster & Print
Afzalpur is the headquarters of a taluk in Kalaburagi district, in northern Karnataka close to the Maharashtra border. It lies on the broad, gently rolling Deccan plateau, where most of the land is farmed and settlements appear as dense clusters surrounded by open fields. From above, the town is a compact knot of lanes with roads leading outward.
The town's name is traditionally associated with Afzal Khan, a seventeenth-century commander of the Bijapur Sultanate, a reminder that this region once lay within the Deccan sultanates' sphere. The Bhima, one of the major tributaries of the Krishna, flows through the taluk, and its basin shapes the farming landscape around the town.
An Afzalpur map poster favours texture over grandeur. The tight, irregular street pattern of the old centre stands against the straight roads leading to neighbouring villages, and the surrounding fields leave a generous, calm margin. It is an honest portrait of a working town in the Deccan countryside, drawn with the same care as any capital.

Radiating roads
Roads leave the town in several directions toward surrounding villages and the district headquarters. Together they form a star-like outline that frames the built-up area against the open plain.
Bhima basin
The river that runs through the taluk defines the wider landscape, with farmland stretching across its basin. At larger map extents its course adds a strong natural line.
