La mappa
Alfragide Map Poster & Print
Alfragide lies just west of Lisbon's city limits, split between the municipalities of Amadora and Oeiras. It is a modern place, and from above it looks like one: large retail and office buildings, apartment blocks on curving estate roads, and major routes such as the IC19 and the A5 corridor cutting through or passing close by. Interchanges and slip roads create some of the most striking shapes on the map.
To the east lies Monsanto Forest Park, the large wooded hill that separates the city's western suburbs from central Lisbon. On a map it appears as a broad, almost empty area crossed by winding roads, in sharp contrast to Alfragide's dense, engineered layout.
An Alfragide map poster works as a portrait of the late twentieth-century suburb. The looping junctions, cul-de-sacs and big commercial plots make an unexpectedly graphic pattern, and the edge of Monsanto gives the frame a calm counterweight. It is a practical, lived-in part of greater Lisbon, and people who live or work here know it well.

Estates and business parks
Housing blocks on winding estate roads sit next to large office and retail plots, giving the map a mix of fine and coarse textures.
Monsanto next door
The large wooded hill of Monsanto Forest Park borders the area to the east and appears as a wide green gap between Alfragide and Lisbon.

Perché Alfragide
Una mappa che ha un significato
Alfragide is where many people in greater Lisbon actually live, commute and shop. A map poster of it is a quiet tribute to an everyday place, particularly for a first flat or a family home in the western suburbs.
Personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates, perhaps with your street or the date you received the keys. Choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand, then download 300 DPI files for $9 or order a matte print, framed if you like.
