Scattered lakes
Numerous small lakes fill the map with rounded shapes. They break up the street network and give almost every neighbourhood its own edge of water.

La mappa
Altamonte Springs Map Poster & Print
Altamonte Springs is in Seminole County, just north of Orlando. Like much of central Florida, the map is full of water. Dozens of small, round lakes are spread through the neighbourhoods, and residential streets curve around their shores instead of following a strict grid. Most of the land between the lakes is low, flat and densely planted.
Interstate 4 runs along the eastern side of the city, and State Road 436 cuts across it, lined with shops and offices. Altamonte Mall is one of the largest commercial blocks. Cranes Roost Park, a lake with a walking path around it and a small district of shops and flats, has become a centre for the city.
An Altamonte Springs map poster shows a suburb that at first seems uniform but is shaped by its lakes. In monochrome, the water appears as a scattering of calm, rounded shapes among the lines of the streets. The result is a pleasant graphic pattern, and anyone who lives near one of the lakes will recognise its outline.

Cranes Roost Park
A lake with a walking path around its shore is the focus of an uptown district. On the map it forms a neat oval surrounded by buildings.
I-4 and SR 436
The interstate and the busy state road form the main crossing lines. Their straight paths cut through the curved residential streets and lakes.
