Salt ponds
Shallow ponds fill much of the western interior, forming a pattern of irregular shapes that reads almost like lace laid across the flat island.

La mappa
Anegada Map Poster & Print
Anegada is the odd one out in the British Virgin Islands. Where its neighbours are steep and volcanic, Anegada is a low slab of coral and limestone, barely rising above sea level at its highest point. Its Spanish name is usually translated as drowned land, and from a boat it can be hard to see until you are close. On a map it forms a long, gently curved strip.
The western half is taken up by a network of salt ponds, irregular shallow lagoons that give the interior a scattered, cellular pattern, and flamingos have been reintroduced there. Roads are few and sandy, connecting The Settlement, the island's main village, with beaches along the north shore. Most of the map's detail lies in water rather than on land.
Offshore, Horseshoe Reef stretches away to the southeast and is one of the largest barrier reefs in the Caribbean. It has caught hundreds of ships over the centuries, making the waters around Anegada a known wreck site. An Anegada map poster frames the island with its reef edge and ponds, showing how thin the line between land and sea really is here.

Horseshoe Reef
The long reef curling away to the southeast is among the largest in the Caribbean and traces a broad belt of shallow water beyond the island's eastern end.
North shore beaches
The northern coast is a long, clean run of sand, and the few roads on the island mostly exist to reach it from The Settlement.

Perché Anegada
Una mappa che ha un significato
Sailors who have navigated into Anegada's anchorage remember the approach, and this map shows why. It suits a boat owner's study, a beach house, or anyone who wants a print that is mostly about water and light rather than streets.
Add a title, a subtitle such as a charter year, and your own coordinates line, then choose one of five styles. Blueprint gives it the feeling of a nautical chart, while Classic black & white keeps the reef and ponds crisp.
