Aribinda is a town in the Sahel region of northern Burkina Faso, in a landscape of open savanna and dry plains that turns green only briefly during the rainy season. From above, the settlement is low and spread out. Unpaved lanes wind between family compounds, and the edges of the town fade gradually into fields and bare ground.
The road network around Aribinda is sparse. A few routes and tracks lead out toward neighbouring settlements, crossing shallow watercourses that carry rain for part of the year and stand dry the rest of the time. The area has long been home to herding and farming communities whose livelihoods follow the rhythm of the seasons.
