La mappa
Ayapel Map Poster & Print
Ayapel sits on the shore of the Ciénaga de Ayapel, one of the large wetlands of the La Mojana region in Córdoba. From above, the town fills a compact patch of land beside the water. Its streets run in a short grid toward the shoreline, and the ciénaga spreads out beyond them as an irregular body of water with ragged, shifting edges.
The surrounding landscape belongs to the lowland basin of the San Jorge River, where water, marsh and pasture blend into one another. On a map this shows as a loose pattern of channels, inlets and low ground. The built-up area is modest, so the drawing of the lake and its margins gives the composition most of its character.
An Ayapel map poster works as a study in contrast. A dense cluster of blocks meets a large open shape of water, and the fine detail of the shoreline sets the tone. In black and white the wetland becomes a quiet field of pale space around the town, which suits a place whose daily life has long turned toward fishing and the water.

Waterfront grid
A short grid of streets runs down toward the shore, so the town reads on paper as a tight cluster of blocks pressed against open water.
San Jorge lowlands
Beyond the town the map fades into the low, flat basin of the San Jorge River, where channels and seasonal water trace fine lines across the land.

Perché Ayapel
Una mappa che ha un significato
People hang a map of Ayapel to keep a hometown or a family place close, or simply because the meeting of town and wetland makes an unusual, calm image. The lake gives the poster a natural focal point that reads well from across a room.
The title, subtitle and coordinates line can be changed to mark a name, a date or a personal message. Choose from Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand, download the HD files for $9, or order a printed poster on matte paper with an optional wooden frame.
