La mappa
Baoxing Map Poster & Print
Baoxing sits in the rolling hill country of western Chongqing, in the Dazu area, a landscape of low ridges, shallow valleys and carefully terraced fields. On a map, the town's streets follow the valley floors, and the built-up area stretches along a few main roads instead of spreading out evenly.
Around the town, the countryside is a dense pattern of small fields, ponds and farm tracks shaped by the slopes. Roads wind to follow the terrain, and village clusters sit on shelves of level ground. The overall effect is intricate but soft, with very few straight lines.
This part of Chongqing is known for the Dazu Rock Carvings, the Buddhist cliff sculptures listed by UNESCO as World Heritage. A Baoxing map poster shows the ordinary geography of that same hill country, a town shaped by its valleys and the farmland around it, and it prints as a fine, organic design.

Terraced hills
Terraced fields and ponds on the surrounding slopes create a delicate, layered pattern around the edges of the town.
Winding roads
Roads leaving town bend with the terrain rather than cutting straight across it, which gives the map an organic feel.
