Behat lies in the Saharanpur district of western Uttar Pradesh, on the level land between the Ganges and Yamuna basins. From above, the town forms a dense cluster of narrow lanes packed tightly around its main road, with houses giving way quickly to a surrounding grid of fields, orchards and small village roads.
The setting is agricultural, and the map shows it plainly. Straight field boundaries and irrigation lines spread outward in every direction, while the built-up area stays compact. North of the town the land begins its slow rise toward the Shivalik range, and the road network follows that direction toward the shrine of Shakumbhari Devi in the hills beyond.
