Belize is a town and municipality in the north of Angola's Cabinda province, the exclave separated from the rest of the country by a strip of Congolese territory. It lies in the Mayombe, a belt of hilly tropical forest that stretches across the borders with the Republic of the Congo and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
On a map the town is small and linear. Its streets follow the terrain rather than a plan, and roads wind out through forested hills toward neighbouring settlements and the provincial capital to the south. Streams cut shallow valleys through the landscape, and the built-up area occupies the gentler ground between them.
