La mappa
Charleston Map Poster & Print
Charleston is the seat of Coles County in east-central Illinois, and its street pattern follows the classic Midwestern model. At the centre is a courthouse square, and from it the grid runs out in every direction across level prairie farmland. Streets meet at right angles, blocks are regular, and the town's edges fade into long, straight section-line roads.
The south side of town is shaped by Eastern Illinois University, whose campus shows up as a looser arrangement of buildings, lawns and paths set inside the grid. In 1858 Charleston hosted the fourth of the Lincoln–Douglas debates, which gives the town a place in national history. Lake Charleston and the Embarras River lie to the south-east, adding the only curved lines on the map.
A Charleston map poster sets out all of this clearly: the square at the centre, the even grid, the campus and the water beyond. It is an orderly, balanced image, and it makes a natural keepsake for former students, faculty and families across Coles County.

Eastern Illinois University
The university campus forms a distinct area of lawns, walkways and scattered buildings, breaking up the regular street grid on the south side.
Lake and river
Lake Charleston and the winding Embarras River to the south-east add soft, organic shapes to an otherwise rectilinear prairie map.

Perché Charleston
Una mappa che ha un significato
Charleston is a natural choice for Eastern Illinois University graduates, whether as a graduation gift, a dorm reminder or a quiet nod to years spent on campus. It is just as meaningful to families with long roots in Coles County.
Personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates, perhaps with a graduation year or a house address. Then choose one of five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand.
