Field grid
Straight farm roads and field edges divide the plain into long rectangles. They repeat across the whole map and give the poster its strongest overall rhythm.

La mappa
Chenlou Map Poster & Print
Chenlou lies in the north of Jiangsu Province, on the broad, flat plain that stretches across this part of eastern China. From above, the landscape is mostly farmland. Straight roads and irrigation channels divide it into long rectangular fields, and compact village clusters sit at regular intervals among them, with a denser settlement where the main roads meet.
The plain has been farmed intensively for a very long time, and the map shows how carefully the land has been organised. Channels run parallel to the roads. Smaller canals branch off at right angles, and field boundaries repeat the same directions over and over. Settlement grows along the main routes, while the older villages keep their tight, irregular footprints.
A Chenlou map poster turns that agricultural geometry into a graphic pattern. It is less a picture of a town centre than of a whole working landscape: lines, rectangles and small clusters repeated across the page. In black and white, the straight roads and the compact knots of village streets make a strong, calm composition.

Irrigation channels
Water channels run alongside many roads and between fields. On the map they appear as thin parallel lines that echo the road network.
Village clusters
Older villages sit as tight, irregular clusters of lanes within the grid. They stand out as dense points in an otherwise open, geometric landscape.

Perché Chenlou
Una mappa che ha un significato
Many people from rural Jiangsu now live in large cities, and the plain where they grew up is hard to capture in a photo. A map shows it as it is from above, with the village, the channels and the long roads between fields.
The title, subtitle and coordinates can be set however you like, including in Chinese characters. Choose Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Printed posters come on matte paper with an optional wooden frame, shipped from partners in over 30 countries.
