La mappa
Constanza Map Poster & Print
Constanza sits in a broad valley at around 1,200 metres in the Cordillera Central, one of the highest towns in the Dominican Republic. From above the town is a compact cluster of streets in the middle of a flat, oval valley floor, ringed by steep forested mountains. The contrast between the level basin and the crowded contour lines around it is what makes the place so distinctive on a map.
The valley’s cool climate makes it the country’s leading area for vegetables and flowers, and fields of potatoes, garlic, lettuce and strawberries fill most of the flat land. Japanese families settled here as farmers in the 1950s and helped develop that agriculture. To the south, the high plateau of Valle Nuevo National Park rises into pine forest.
A Constanza map poster shows the valley as a clear, enclosed shape: a small street network, the regular divisions of farmland, the straight line of the airstrip and mountains closing in on all sides. It suits anyone who knows the place from cool evenings, farm roads or the long, winding drive up from the lowlands.

Surrounding ranges
Steep slopes of the Cordillera Central rise on every side, their folded ridges and ravines adding dense texture around the smooth shape of the valley.
Airstrip
A straight runway lies on the valley floor near the town, one of the few perfectly linear features in an otherwise organic landscape of fields and hills.

Perché Constanza
Una mappa che ha un significato
Constanza means holidays in the mountains for many Dominicans, and home for the families who farm the valley. A print of its map keeps that cool, enclosed landscape in view, wherever the owner happens to live now.
Set the title, a subtitle such as a family name or year, and the coordinates line, then choose between five styles. Paper and Sand bring out the farmland, Noir makes the mountains dramatic, and Classic black & white or Blueprint keep everything crisp.
