Cruzeiro Velho
The older section is laid out in regular rows of low blocks. It forms a fine, even pattern that reads like a small, orderly town inside the capital.

La mappa
Cruzeiro Map Poster & Print
Cruzeiro is one of the administrative regions of the Federal District. It sits close to the Plano Piloto, west of the city centre and near the western end of the Eixo Monumental. On a map it is a small, dense district, set between broad highways and the green belts that surround Brasília's planned core.
Its layout belongs to the capital's early decades. The older section, Cruzeiro Velho, has low housing blocks in regular rows. Cruzeiro Novo has larger apartment blocks set among lawns and trees, in the spirit of Brasília's superquadras. The name refers to the cross that marks the site of the first Mass held in the new capital. Wide avenues and interchanges separate the district from its neighbours, Sudoeste and the Setor Militar Urbano.
A Cruzeiro map poster shows a piece of the modernist experiment at a scale you can take in at once. There are repeating blocks, generous open ground, and the large curves of the road network that frame everything. For a small area it holds a lot of the capital's character.

Cruzeiro Novo
Taller apartment blocks sit in open green space, in the manner of Brasília's residential superblocks. The effect is a looser, more spacious rhythm on the map.
Highway frame
Broad roads and interchanges surround the district on every side. Their sweeping curves isolate Cruzeiro clearly and give the poster strong outlines.
