La mappa
Cypress Map Poster & Print
Cypress sits on the flat coastal plain of north-western Orange County, bordering Los Angeles County. Its map is built on the region's mile grid of arterial boulevards, with each square filled by tract housing, schools and small parks. Concrete flood-control channels run across parts of the grid, among the few features that do not follow the compass.
The city began as a dairy community and was incorporated in 1956 under the name Dairy City, before adopting the name Cypress the following year. Today it is home to Cypress College and the Los Alamitos Race Course, whose large oval track is one of the most recognisable shapes on its map.
A Cypress map poster turns suburban Southern California into a clean graphic: the regular boulevards, the dense residential infill, the racetrack oval and the channels cutting through. It is orderly without being monotonous, and it suits the kind of modern interior where a detailed black-and-white print can be the only artwork on a wall.

Mile-grid boulevards
Arterial roads divide the city into regular squares, the standard pattern of the Orange County plain, giving the poster a strong, even structure.
Flood channels
Straight concrete channels cross the grid at their own angles, thin lines that add movement to an otherwise orderly composition.
