La mappa
Dammarie-les-Lys Map Poster & Print
Dammarie-les-Lys sits on the left bank of the Seine, directly next to Melun in Seine-et-Marne, south-east of Paris. The river bends along its northern side, and the town stretches south and west from the water. Its map combines riverside quarters, post-war housing estates and older residential streets that grew up around the historic village centre.
The town takes part of its name from the Abbaye du Lys, a Cistercian abbey founded in the thirteenth century with the support of Blanche of Castile, whose ruins still stand in a park. To the south, the streets give way to woodland at the edges of the Fontainebleau forest area, and the railway line toward Paris crosses the town.
A Dammarie-les-Lys map poster shows that transition from river to forest in a single frame. The Seine forms a smooth curve along one side, the urban fabric fills the middle with a mix of tight and open blocks, and the green edges thin into empty space. It is a map that feels both suburban and rooted in older landscape.

Abbaye du Lys
The ruins of the medieval Cistercian abbey sit within a park in the town. The open ground around them forms a calm space within the surrounding streets.
Forest edge
To the south, streets fade into woodland linked to the Fontainebleau forest area. That softening edge gives the map a natural boundary and a sense of depth.
