La mappa
Dedovsk Map Poster & Print
Dedovsk lies northwest of Moscow, in the Istra area of Moscow Oblast, beside the railway line that runs from the capital toward Riga. On a map the town is compact and fairly regular: a grid of apartment blocks, low houses and factory grounds laid out beside the tracks, with forest and fields closing in on several sides.
The town grew around a textile mill founded in the early twentieth century and became a town in 1940. Its industrial origin still shows in the layout: a large works site, planned blocks of workers' housing and later Soviet apartment districts spreading outward. In late 1941 the front line of the Battle of Moscow came very close to Dedovsk, and the town still remembers that chapter.
Today Dedovsk is within commuting distance of Moscow, yet the map still shows a small, self-contained town ringed by woods. A Dedovsk map poster records that outline cleanly: the railway, the mill quarter, the housing blocks and the green belt around them. It is the kind of place people carry with them long after they move to the capital.

Mill quarter
The grounds of the old textile works appear as a large block of industrial buildings and yards. This is the historic core the town grew up around.
Woodland edge
Forest and fields surround Dedovsk, so its compact grid of blocks sits inside a wide margin of open space that gives the poster a calm, balanced frame.

Perché Dedovsk
Una mappa che ha un significato
Dedovsk is the kind of hometown that rarely appears in guidebooks but matters a great deal to those who grew up there. Add a title and subtitle, for example a family name, a school year or a date, and keep the coordinates line to mark the exact place.
Classic black & white and Noir suit its orderly layout, Blueprint shows the railway and blocks like a planning drawing, and Paper or Sand give a softer tone. Download six print sizes for $9, or order a matte print from partners in 30+ countries.
