La mappa
Dhafní Map Poster & Print
Dafni is a neighbourhood in the southeast of the Athens urban area, part of the municipality of Dafni-Ymittos. It sits between the city centre and the lower slopes of Mount Hymettus, and like most of central Athens its map is a close, fine-grained mesh of streets lined with apartment buildings, broken up only by small squares and churchyards.
Vouliagmenis Avenue runs through the area as a wide, straight corridor heading south toward the coast, and Dafni station on Metro Line 2 sits along it. East of the neighbourhood the streets start to climb and bend as the ground rises toward the mountain. Dafni should not be confused with the monastery of the same name, which is on the other side of Athens.
A Dhafní map poster shows Athenian density at close range: countless small blocks, one strong avenue and the first curves of the Hymettus slopes. Its intricate, tightly woven texture makes it one of the more graphic kinds of city print.

Dense block pattern
Tightly packed streets and small blocks of apartment buildings create the fine, almost woven texture typical of the inner Athens neighbourhoods.
Toward Hymettus
To the east the street grid begins to bend and loosen as the ground rises toward Mount Hymettus, giving the edge of the map a softer outline.

Perché Dhafní
Una mappa che ha un significato
Dafni is a neighbourhood people live in for generations, with its local squares, a short metro ride to the centre and Hymettus on the horizon. A map of its streets is a personal keepsake for Athenians at home or abroad.
Personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates, perhaps with the Greek name Δάφνη, a street or a date. Five styles are available: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. Noir shows off the dense block pattern particularly well.
