Aramco compound
The company's residential community is laid out with looping streets and cul-de-sacs. This suburban, American-influenced pattern stands out clearly against the surrounding grids and desert.

La mappa
Dhahran Map Poster & Print
Dhahran grew up around oil. In 1938 the Dammam No. 7 well struck oil in commercial quantities here, the discovery that transformed Saudi Arabia, and the town is still the headquarters of Saudi Aramco. From above, the map shows large planned areas with curving residential streets, very different from the dense grids of older Gulf cities.
Dhahran forms one corner of a single urban area with Al Khobar and Dammam, and broad highways tie the three together. The King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals stands on raised ground, known for its distinctive water tower. The Aramco compound spreads out nearby with its own internal roads, green spaces and low-rise housing.
Close by stands Ithra, the King Abdulaziz Center for World Culture, whose rounded forms have become a new landmark near the historic well site. A Dhahran map poster brings these layers together: company town, university and desert, with the Gulf shoreline a short distance to the east beyond Al Khobar.

Perché Dhahran
Una mappa che ha un significato
Generations of engineers, students and families have lived in Dhahran, some for a few years and some for a lifetime, and many have strong memories of the compound and the campus. A map poster keeps those streets with you wherever you go next.
Add the years you lived there, a family name or a class year to the title and subtitle, and keep or edit the coordinates line. Choose Sand for a desert tone or another of the five styles, as a $9 download or a printed poster.
