Dirba is a town in Sangrur district in the Malwa region of Punjab, India. The land here is very flat and heavily farmed, mostly wheat and rice, and the town serves as a local market and service centre for the villages around it.
The map shows a dense centre where streets gather around the bazaar and main crossroads, surrounded by newer housing along the roads leading out of town. A Dirba map poster also shows the rectangular fields beyond, where the whole landscape is divided into regular plots.
Canals and minor watercourses are an important part of this landscape, cutting long, straight lines between the fields. Village roads connect to them at regular intervals. In black and white, the result is a nearly geometric composition with a single small town at its heart.
