Dois Vizinhos, which means two neighbours, is in the southwest of the Brazilian state of Paraná. The region has rolling green hills, small rivers and intensively farmed land, much of it settled in the twentieth century by families moving north from Rio Grande do Sul and Santa Catarina. The local economy is closely tied to agriculture and agro-industry, especially poultry, which has made the town one of the more productive rural centres in the region. It also has a campus of the Federal Technological University of Paraná, which brings students and research in agronomy and related fields.
