Airport runways
Barcelona's main airport lies next to the town. Its long, straight runways and terminals make large geometric shapes that dominate the southern part of the map.

La mappa
El Prat de Llobregat Map Poster & Print
El Prat de Llobregat is on the delta of the Llobregat River, just southwest of Barcelona. The ground is completely flat, and on the map the town is surrounded by very large structures. Barcelona's airport and its runways lie to the south, the port and the diverted river mouth are to the east, and a long, straight beach runs along the Mediterranean.
Before the airport and the port expanded, the delta was farmland, and parts of it still are. The town is known for its artichokes and for the Prat chicken, a local breed with bluish legs. Protected lagoons and wetlands along the coast are home to many birds, and they show up on the map as irregular water shapes next to the runways.
An El Prat de Llobregat map poster shows how a town and major infrastructure fit together. There is the compact street grid of the town, long straight runways, the reshaped river mouth and the coastline. In black and white the contrast between the town's small blocks and the airport's vast geometry is especially striking.

Llobregat mouth
The river's final stretch was diverted during the port's expansion. Its engineered channel now meets the sea near the huge rectangular docks of the port.
Delta wetlands
Between the runways and the beach, protected lagoons and marshes remain. Their irregular shapes are a reminder of what the delta looked like before development.

Perché El Prat de Llobregat
Una mappa che ha un significato
El Prat is the first thing many people see of Barcelona, but for those who live there it is a town with its own identity, fields and beach. The map captures that side of it, and it suits frequent travellers too.
You can personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates, for example to mark a flight date. The poster comes in five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. Blueprint suits the runways and river especially well.
