La mappa
El‘ad Map Poster & Print
El‘ad was founded in the late 1990s on hills at the eastern edge of Israel's coastal plain, near Rosh HaAyin. It was planned from the start as a complete town, and its layout shows the hand of modern planners. Curving residential streets wrap around the hilltops, and there is no grid.
Most residents belong to the Haredi community. Each residential cluster was designed with schools, synagogues and community buildings woven into it. The town grew quickly after its founding, reaching tens of thousands of residents within a single generation, and it keeps expanding along its hillside edges.
An El‘ad map poster shows a city shaped by terrain and intention together. Looping roads trace the slopes, apartment blocks line them in regular arcs, and green spaces fill the steeper ground between neighbourhoods. The result has a flowing, almost topographic quality, very different from that of older Israeli cities.

Planned neighbourhoods
The city is divided into distinct residential clusters, each with its own internal loops and short streets. On the map they read as a series of connected pods.
Hillside edge
At the city's edges, the streets stop abruptly against open slopes and green land. This gives the built area a clear outline in the landscape.

Perché El‘ad
Una mappa che ha un significato
