Humboldt Bay
The large, sheltered bay fills much of the frame. Its tidal channels and mudflats are drawn in fine detail between the town and the narrow barrier spits.

La mappa
Eureka Map Poster & Print
Eureka sits on the eastern shore of Humboldt Bay on California's far north coast, and water shapes the whole map. Across from the town, narrow sand spits hold back the Pacific, and a chain of bridges that crosses islands in the bay links Eureka to the Samoa Peninsula. On the landward side, sloughs and marshes wind into the edges of a regular street grid.
The town grew on timber and shipping in the nineteenth century, and its Old Town still has a dense collection of Victorian buildings near the waterfront. The Carson Mansion, built for a lumber baron, is often described as one of the most elaborate Victorian houses in the United States. Eureka is also the seat of Humboldt County and a gateway to the redwood forests.
From above, the orderly blocks meet the soft, irregular lines of the bay in a way few American towns can match. A Eureka map poster keeps both: the neat grid of streets, the piers and marinas, and the long sweep of sand and tidal channels that separates the town from the open ocean.

Samoa bridges
A chain of bridges crosses the bay by way of small islands to the Samoa Peninsula, a thin line of road stretching across open water on the map.
Old Town grid
Along the waterfront the street grid is tight and regular. This is the historic district where timber-era storefronts and the Carson Mansion stand close to the bay.

Perché Eureka
Una mappa che ha un significato
For anyone who studied at nearby Cal Poly Humboldt, worked on the bay or drove Highway 101 through the redwoods, Eureka tends to stay in the memory. Add a title and a subtitle with a year or a personal line, and keep the coordinates to mark the spot.
The bay looks especially striking in Blueprint and Noir, while Paper and Sand give it the feel of a nautical chart. Classic black & white stays crisp and neutral. Download six print sizes for $9, or order a matte poster with an optional wooden frame.
