Ewing Township lies in Mercer County, New Jersey, directly north of the state capital, Trenton. The Delaware River forms its western boundary, with Pennsylvania on the other bank. From above, Ewing is a patchwork of postwar residential streets, curving cul-de-sacs, commercial corridors and open land, crossed by highways that carry traffic around the Trenton area.
Two large features stand out on the map. The College of New Jersey occupies a wide, green campus with quadrangles and lakes on the township's western side. Trenton-Mercer Airport's runways cut a long, straight shape through the north. Between them run suburban blocks and wooded strips along the streams that drain toward the river.
