La mappa
Fungurume Map Poster & Print
Fungurume lies in Lualaba province in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, on the road that links Likasi with Kolwezi across the Central African Copperbelt. The town is closely tied to the Tenke Fungurume mining area, one of the major copper and cobalt operations in the region, and its growth over recent decades has followed that industry closely.
From above, the settlement stretches along the main road, with residential streets branching off on either side and newer neighbourhoods filling in at the margins. Beyond the town the landscape opens into rolling plateau country, where the large-scale geometry of mining sites and haul roads contrasts with the smaller, more informal grain of the town's own streets.
A Fungurume map poster records a place that has changed quickly and keeps changing. For people who have lived and worked in the Copperbelt, whether for many years or a single contract, it offers a clean record of the town's shape, simplified to lines and space, without the dust, traffic and noise of the real thing.

Growing margins
Newer neighbourhoods at the edges show a looser, less regular pattern than the centre, a visible record of a town that has expanded rapidly in recent decades.
Copperbelt plateau
Open, gently rolling country surrounds the town, leaving plenty of white space in the frame so the street pattern stands out clearly at every print size.
