La mappa
Gogrial Map Poster & Print
Gogrial is a town in Warrap State in South Sudan, set on the broad, flat country that covers much of this part of the country. On a map the built-up area is small and compact, with a few main roads leading out across open land. The terrain is low and even, so the map is shaped more by roads and water than by hills.
The surrounding region is crossed by rivers and streams that swell during the rainy season and shrink in the dry months. Cattle herding and farming have long shaped life on these plains. The town serves as a local centre for the area around it, and its name is also used for the wider county.
A Gogrial map poster is a spare and quiet composition. A small cluster of streets sits at the centre, with long lines of road and the curves of waterways reaching across a mostly empty sheet. For someone from the area, it is a way to keep home in view, drawn simply and without decoration.
