Grajaú River
The river that shares the town's name curves along the settlement. It is the one fully natural line on the map and sets it apart from the straight streets.

La mappa
Grajaú Map Poster & Print
Grajaú lies in the interior of Maranhão, in northeastern Brazil, on the river of the same name. The Grajaú River flows north through the region toward the Atlantic coast, and the town grew up on its banks. Seen from above, the pattern is familiar across inland Brazil: a mostly rectangular street grid set against a meandering river, with savanna and farmland all around.
The river gives the map its most organic line. It bends past the town while the blocks keep to straight edges, and the two geometries meet along the waterfront. Farther from the centre the grid loosens. Newer neighbourhoods and unpaved roads fan out into the cerrado, the dry tropical savanna that covers much of this part of Maranhão.
A Grajaú map poster keeps this outline simple: the river, the grid and the roads leaving town. It works as a reminder of home for people who grew up here and later moved to São Luís, Brasília or abroad. It also appeals to anyone who likes the way a river-town plan balances order and flow.

Rectangular blocks
The central neighbourhoods follow a regular grid of blocks and parallel streets, which prints as a dense, even texture in the middle of the poster.
Cerrado edges
Outside the centre, the streets thin into scattered roads and tracks crossing open savanna, so the plan fades out gradually toward the edges of the frame.
