Waterways
Canals and rivers run through and around the town, many lined by roads and crossed by bridges. They give the map its winding lines and divide the built-up area into sections.

La mappa
Gushu Map Poster & Print
Gushu is the seat of Dangtu County in Anhui's Ma'anshan, on low, well-watered land east of the Yangtze. The countryside around it is a patchwork of fields, fishponds, lakes and canals, and the map reflects that: the town's blocks sit among water channels, with roads running along embankments and bridges crossing at regular intervals.
Dangtu County is linked to the Tang poet Li Bai, who spent his last years in the area and is commemorated at a memorial tomb in the county. Today the town is part of the wider Nanjing and Ma'anshan region, with newer districts spreading out beside the older centre.
A Gushu map poster shows a place built around water as much as land. The waterways cutting through and around the town, the older streets near the centre and the straighter avenues of newer districts all come through clearly, with the surrounding fields and ponds adding a fine texture.

Older centre
The historic core has closer, more irregular streets than the newer districts. On the map it stands out as a denser, finer area within the wider town.
Ponds and fields
Beyond the edge of town, fishponds and fields form a mosaic of small rectangles. They give the outer part of the poster a quiet, repeating pattern.

Perché Gushu
Una mappa che ha un significato
A map of Gushu is a personal choice for those from Dangtu or the Ma'anshan area, or for readers of Li Bai who have visited the region. The water-crossed layout makes a detailed but calm design.
The title, subtitle and coordinates line are all editable, so the poster can carry a name in Chinese characters, a family address or a year. Select from Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand.
