The harbour
Haitou's streets gather around the harbour, where the town meets the water. It is the densest and most detailed part of the map.

La mappa
Haitou Map Poster & Print
Haitou is a coastal town on the western side of Hainan Island, facing the Gulf of Tonkin. Its map begins at the water. The town grows up around its harbour and landing areas, and the streets run back from the shore in a pattern shaped by the needs of a working fishing community.
Inland, the built-up area gives way to low farmland, and roads connect Haitou with the rest of the island. Along the coast, the shoreline runs smoothly with sand and shallow water. On a Haitou map poster this becomes a clean, bright boundary on one side of the sheet and a network of streets on the other.
The layout is simple, which suits minimalist printing. There is one strong coastal edge, a cluster of streets around the harbour, and a few roads heading inland. Printed in black and white, it looks calm and spare, much like the western coast of Hainan itself.

The western shore
The coastline faces the Gulf of Tonkin and runs as one long, smooth line. It gives the print a clear and quiet edge.
Roads inland
A few roads lead east from the coast across low, open land toward the rest of Hainan, giving the composition its sense of depth.

Perché Haitou
Una mappa che ha un significato
Some people hang this map because Haitou is home or a family's town, and others because the coast of western Hainan means something to them. The spare layout is restful and suits bedrooms, studies and hallways alike.
You can personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line, including with Chinese characters or a date. The print is available in five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint and Sand. Blueprint works well with the harbour's lines.
