Hell-Ville, also known as Andoany, is the main town of Nosy Be, an island off the northwest coast of Madagascar. It sits on the island's southern shore, facing a calm stretch of sea toward the mainland, and its streets gather in a compact pattern around the port and waterfront.
The town takes its name from Admiral Anne Chrétien Louis de Hell, a French governor of Réunion in the nineteenth century, and some colonial-era buildings still line its central streets. Ferries and small boats link the harbour with Ankify on the mainland, making the port a busy point on the island's edge.
