The village
The one settlement sits on the eastern shore beside its harbour. On the poster it appears as a small but crisp cluster of lanes, the only concentrated detail on the island.

La mappa
Hestur Map Poster & Print
Hestur lies in the Faroe Islands between Streymoy and Sandoy, separated from its neighbours by narrow sounds. It is a small, elongated island rising steeply from the water, with grassy slopes on the east and high cliffs to the west. Its name means horse, and it sits beside the smaller island of Koltur, whose name means colt.
The island's only village, also called Hestur, lies on the east coast facing Streymoy, with a small harbour linked by ferry to Gamlarætt. The population is small, and there are only a few lanes around the village. The rest of the island is open grazing land, rising to high ground and ending in cliffs where seabirds nest.
A Hestur map poster is one of the most minimal compositions possible: a single long island, a tiny cluster of streets and the sounds around it. That sparseness is exactly what makes it compelling on a wall, particularly for those with family ties to the Faroes or a memory of the ferry crossing.

Western cliffs
The western side of the island falls steeply into the Atlantic. On the map this edge reads as a clean, hard line, in contrast to the gentler slopes facing the village.
Surrounding sounds
Narrow channels separate Hestur from Streymoy, Sandoy and Koltur. They frame the island within the archipelago, giving the poster a sense of place beyond its small size.
