La mappa
Hexing Map Poster & Print
Hexing is a town in the eastern part of Chongqing municipality, in the hilly country on the eastern edge of the Sichuan Basin. This region is shaped by long parallel ridges running northeast to southwest, with lower, rolling land between them. The town sits in this folded landscape, and its streets fill the flatter ground of a valley while the land rises on each side.
Around the town, the hills are covered with terraced fields, small reservoirs and scattered farmhouses. Roads cannot take a direct line here. They follow valley floors and climb in curves, so the road network appears as a series of winding threads that link the town to nearby villages and the larger towns of the district.
A Hexing map poster shows how closely settlement follows the land in this part of China. The town is compact and elongated, fitted into its valley. The terraces and field boundaries create fine, curving lines on the slopes around it, and ponds appear as small bright shapes. It is a detailed, quiet image of rural Chongqing.

Terraced slopes
Hillsides around the town are shaped into terraces and small fields. On the map they produce fine contour-like lines that wrap around the slopes.
Winding roads
Roads follow valleys and climb over ridges in long curves. They connect the town to surrounding villages in a loose, meandering network.
