The highway spine
The main road between central and eastern Ethiopia passes straight through town. It gives the map a clear axis that every lane and compound seems to lean toward.

La mappa
Hīrna Map Poster & Print
Hīrna sits in the West Hararghe highlands of Oromiya, on the long road that climbs from the Rift Valley toward Harar and Dire Dawa. From above, the town reads as a line before it reads as a place. The highway runs through the middle, and houses, compounds and short lanes gather on both sides before thinning out into fields and slopes.
Beyond the built edge the map turns to the Chercher highlands, a country of ridges, small valleys and cultivated terraces. Farming shapes the surroundings. Plots and footpaths give the outer areas a fine, irregular texture that contrasts with the firmer spine of the main road. It is a quiet, legible composition, more pattern than monument.
A Hīrna map poster keeps that structure in plain black lines on a white ground. The road is the strongest stroke, the town clusters around it, and the thinner tracks fade toward the hills. For people who grew up here or passed through on the way east, it is a precise way to keep a place that rarely appears on a wall.

Highland terrain
Hīrna lies among the Chercher highlands, so the surrounding map is shaped by ridges and valleys. Tracks bend to follow the slope rather than a grid.
Field patterns
Around the settled core, farm plots and footpaths form a loose mesh that softens the edges of the town and fills the frame with fine detail.

Perché Hīrna
Una mappa che ha un significato
Some hang Hīrna as a reminder of home, others as a record of a journey through eastern Ethiopia. The appeal is its honesty: one road, one town and the hills around it, drawn without decoration so the shape of the place carries the whole print.
You can set your own title and subtitle, add a date that matters to you, and keep or adjust the coordinates line. Choose from Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand, then download the HD files for $9 or order a printed poster.
