Dispersed street web
Streets spread across a wide area in an irregular web instead of converging on one centre. This gives the poster an even, textured pattern from edge to edge.

La mappa
Hlanganani Map Poster & Print
Hlanganani is a settlement in Mpumalanga, in the Lowveld region of north-eastern South Africa. The name comes from a word meaning to come together, which fits the way the community is spread across the land. From above, it is not a single dense centre but a wide pattern of streets and homesteads over gently rolling terrain.
The layout is largely informal and follows the ground. Roads curve and branch between clusters of houses, with open plots, gardens and patches of bush in between. A few main routes link the settlement with nearby towns and the wider road network of the Lowveld, and they give the map its longest lines.
A Hlanganani map poster turns that spread-out pattern into a surprisingly graphic composition. The fine, irregular web of streets covers the frame evenly, more like a textile than a city grid. For the families who live here and those who have moved away, it is a faithful picture of a real community.

Homestead clusters
Houses gather in small groups separated by open ground and gardens, producing a rhythm of dense and light areas that suits minimal black-and-white design.
Regional connections
A few longer roads cross the settlement and link it with nearby Lowveld towns, running through the finer local streets as clear, confident lines.
