Settlement core
The built-up area forms a small, compact cluster, clearly separate from the surrounding countryside. It reads on the map as a single focal point within wide agricultural land.

La mappa
Hŭkkyo-ri Map Poster & Print
Hŭkkyo-ri lies in North Hwanghae province, in the agricultural country south of Pyongyang. Detailed mapping of North Korean towns is limited, so this place is best read in broad strokes. It is a modest cluster of streets and buildings set among cultivated fields, with roads running out toward neighbouring villages and the low hills around it.
The landscape is typical of the western lowlands of the peninsula. Rice paddies and dry fields are laid out in regular plots, and small streams drain toward larger rivers. On a black-and-white map these patterns become the main subject, their straight edges set against the softer lines of the hills.
A Hŭkkyo-ri map poster is a quiet, sparse design rather than a busy urban plan, and that is part of its appeal. It is drawn from open map data and shows a place few people outside Korea have seen. The settlement, its roads and the farmland around it carry equal weight on the page.

Field geometry
Regular plots of farmland cover much of the ground around the settlement. Their straight boundaries and repeated shapes give the map a strong, almost woven texture.
Low hills
Gentle high ground rises beyond the fields. Roads and watercourses bend around it, and its softer outlines contrast with the flat, divided lowland.
