Arkansas River
The river loops along the south side of town, the one strong curve in a map otherwise defined by straight streets and section-line roads.

La mappa
Hutchinson Map Poster & Print
Hutchinson is the seat of Reno County in central Kansas, and its map is a textbook prairie grid: long straight avenues crossing numbered streets, railway lines cutting diagonally through, and the Arkansas River curving along the southern edge of town. Beyond the city limits, section-line roads continue the pattern for miles across flat farmland.
Beneath the city lie thick beds of rock salt, discovered in the late nineteenth century, which earned Hutchinson the nickname Salt City. Salt mining continues, and Strataca offers tours hundreds of feet underground. Above ground, the Cosmosphere holds a major collection of space artefacts, and every September the Kansas State Fair draws visitors from across the state.
A Hutchinson map poster captures the calm order of a Great Plains city, with the river adding the only natural curve to an otherwise rectilinear plan. The fairgrounds, rail corridors and neighbourhood parks all find their place in the grid. It suits Kansans at home and away, and anyone who values plain, well-drawn geometry.

Rail diagonals
Railway lines run through Hutchinson at an angle to the grid, adding bold diagonal strokes that recall the town's origins as a railroad settlement.
State Fairgrounds
The Kansas State Fairgrounds occupy a large block on the north side of town, a distinct open shape among the regular residential streets.

Perché Hutchinson
Una mappa che ha un significato
Hutchinson is the kind of place people carry with them: a salt-mine field trip, a summer at the State Fair, a first job near the rail yards. Its orderly grid looks particularly good in print, balanced and unfussy on the wall.
