The railway line
A long, nearly straight rail line passes the town between the Indian Ocean coast and the interior. It gives the map a strong directional axis.

La mappa
Iapala Map Poster & Print
Iapala lies in the interior of Nampula Province in northern Mozambique, a region of red soils, small farms and granite outcrops that rise sharply from the plain. On a map the town looks modest and open. A few main roads carry most of the traffic, lanes branch off them, and plots of houses and gardens spread outward instead of stacking tightly together.
Iapala sits on the railway that runs between the port of Nacala and the interior, and the track draws a long, steady line past the settlement. Around it, footpaths and minor tracks wander across the fields, and nearby hills stand out as isolated shapes on otherwise gentle ground. It is an unusual subject for a wall map, and that is part of its appeal.
An Iapala map poster works best at a moderate zoom that keeps the railway, the main roads and the edge of the settlement in view. The result is spare and airy. Wide white spaces mark the fields, and a small concentration of streets near the middle marks the town itself.

Granite hills
Nampula Province is known for bare granite hills rising from flat country. Where they fall inside the frame, they add isolated forms to an otherwise quiet sheet.
Open settlement pattern
Houses and garden plots spread along roads and paths instead of forming a dense grid, which gives the poster a light, scattered texture across the whole frame.

Perché Iapala
Una mappa che ha un significato
This map is for people who lived, worked or grew up in Iapala, or who passed through on the railway and remember it. Places this size rarely appear on a printed poster, so it makes a personal and uncommon piece for a wall.
You can edit the title, subtitle and coordinates line, for example with a name and a year, and choose one of five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. A free watermarked preview lets you check the layout before buying.
