Dense street mesh
The city is built almost edge to edge, and its fine lattice of short streets produces an even, textile-like surface that looks striking in simple black lines.

La mappa
Ílion Map Poster & Print
Ílion lies in the north-western part of the Athens basin, one of the municipalities that together make up the continuous urban area around the Greek capital. On a map there is no obvious point where it begins. The city is a fine mesh of short streets and compact blocks that merges with its neighbours, typical of the post-war growth that filled this plain.
The municipality was long known as Nea Liosia. Its current name recalls Ilion, the ancient name of Troy, which links a modern residential district to one of the oldest stories in Greek literature. The street pattern itself is practical rather than monumental: long, roughly parallel roads crossed by many small lanes, with squares and churches marking local centres.
An Ílion map poster captures what larger maps of Athens tend to blur, which is the scale of the neighbourhood. Each block, each pocket of open space and each main avenue becomes legible, and the dense texture turns into a pattern with real visual weight. For anyone who grew up or lives here, it shows home at the size it is actually experienced.

Seamless city edges
No river or wall separates Ílion from the surrounding municipalities, so the poster shows it as part of the wider Athens fabric rather than as an island.
A name from Troy
The municipality took the name Ílion, the ancient name of Troy, in place of Nea Liosia. The title line on the poster can carry whichever name means more to you.
