La mappa
Imperial Map Poster & Print
Imperial lies in California's Imperial Valley, just north of El Centro and not far from the Mexican border. The valley sits low, close to or below sea level, and from above the whole landscape is geometry: section-line roads meet at right angles, and irrigated fields fill the squares between them in regular blocks.
Water makes this possible. Canals and drains carry Colorado River water across the valley, and they show up on the map as thin straight channels alongside the roads. The town itself is a tidy grid of residential streets that expands outward in newer subdivisions, surrounded on all sides by farmland.
An Imperial map poster suits anyone who likes order and clarity in a drawing. The city is home to the headquarters of the Imperial Irrigation District and hosts the California Mid-Winter Fair, and its layout reflects a place built around agriculture and the careful management of water.

Irrigation channels
Canals and drains run beside many roads, adding fine parallel lines that show how water is carried across the desert to the fields.
Growing subdivisions
Newer residential areas extend the town's grid outward, with curving cul-de-sacs contrasting against the straight agricultural roads around them.
