Juruá meanders
The Juruá river loops tightly through the forest near the town. Its bends and sandbanks shift over time, and on the map they form the strongest, most fluid lines.

La mappa
Ipixuna Map Poster
Ipixuna is in the far west of Amazonas state, not far from the border with Acre, in a region where rivers do the work of roads. The town stands on the bank of the Juruá, one of the Amazon's great winding tributaries. On a map, the river is the whole story: looping bends, sandbanks, and old channels cut off from the main flow and left as crescent-shaped lakes.
The town itself is small and simple in plan: a few parallel streets along the high bank, cross streets heading inland, and then forest. A waterfront area where boats tie up links the town to the river, which carries people and goods up and down the Juruá. There are no highways linking it to the wider road network, so the river and air travel connect it to the outside world.
An Ipixuna map poster puts the town in context: a small, orderly grid holding firm at one point on a huge, restless river. The meanders and oxbow lakes around it make the map richer than the size of the town suggests. In black and white, the Juruá's curves become the main design, with the town a clear, deliberate mark beside them.

Oxbow lakes
Crescent-shaped lakes around the river are old channels left behind as the river changed course. They add curved shapes across the forest on both sides.
Riverbank grid
The town's streets run along and away from the high bank in a simple pattern. The waterfront where boats come in is its link to the rest of the region.

Perché Ipixuna
Una mappa che ha un significato
Ipixuna is a place people usually reach by river, and a place they remember for the river. A map of its bends and its small grid of streets gives family members far away something real to look at, and it makes a striking wall piece.
You can personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line with names or dates that matter to you. Choose from five styles: Classic black & white, Noir, Paper, Blueprint or Sand. Noir makes the Juruá's curves particularly strong.
