The Central Line
The railway runs straight through the town and dominates the layout. It is the organising stroke of the whole poster, and it links Itigi to both coasts of the country.

La mappa
Itigi Map Poster & Print
Itigi grew up along Tanzania's Central Line, the historic railway that runs west from Dar es Salaam across the interior toward Lake Tanganyika. On the map, the track is the main axis. It is a long, steady line, and the town's streets gather on either side of it in a loose, practical pattern.
The land around Itigi is flat, dry plateau in the Singida Region. The area has given its name to a distinctive vegetation type, the Itigi thicket: a dense, almost impenetrable deciduous scrub found in only a few parts of East Africa. Beyond the town, roads and tracks run in straight lines across this level ground.
An Itigi map poster is really a portrait of a railway settlement. The composition has an unusual clarity: one strong line through the middle, with a small grid of streets and a few straight roads branching off into the plateau. It suits anyone who has travelled the Central Line or has family roots in this part of Tanzania.

Plateau roads
Outside the town, roads cross the level country with few bends. Their long, straight runs emphasise how flat and open the landscape is.
Thicket country
The surrounding land gives its name to the Itigi thicket, a rare dense scrubland. It shows on the map as quiet space broken only by occasional tracks.

Perché Itigi
Una mappa che ha un significato
People hang Itigi on the wall because of the railway: a journey across Tanzania, a family that worked the line, or a childhood beside the tracks. The clear, linear layout makes a strong, graphic print that needs no explanation.
You can add a name, a date or a short phrase to the title and subtitle, and choose from five styles. Blueprint especially suits a railway town. Printed posters ship on matte paper from partners in more than 30 countries, with a wooden frame as an option.
