La mappa
Ivry-sur-Seine Map Poster & Print
Ivry-sur-Seine lies immediately southeast of Paris, on the left bank of the Seine, just upstream of where the Marne joins it. From above, the town is densely built and varied. Rail yards and industrial sites run alongside the river, the boulevard périphérique marks the boundary with the capital to the north, and a mix of old streets and large housing projects fills the ground that rises gently away from the water.
For much of the twentieth century Ivry was a working-class industrial town, and the architecture of its centre reflects that. The star-shaped, terraced housing complexes designed by Jean Renaudie and Renée Gailhoustet in the 1970s are among the best-known examples of French postwar urbanism. Metro line 7 and the RER C connect the town to Paris.
An Ivry-sur-Seine map poster captures the dense, layered edge of a major city. The Seine gives the frame a broad, flowing line, the rail tracks form long parallel bands beside it, and the streets of the centre break into sharp, irregular shapes around the modernist blocks. It is a map of Greater Paris seen from just outside the walls.

Rail corridor
The tracks out of Gare d'Austerlitz pass through Ivry in a wide band parallel to the Seine. They form a clear, striped belt on the map.
Renaudie's stars
The angular, terraced housing blocks in the town centre give the street plan unusual pointed, faceted shapes that no ordinary grid would produce.
