Jalakandapuram is a town panchayat in Salem district, Tamil Nadu, in the farming country between Salem and the Kaveri river. Its setting is typical of this part of the state: flat or gently rolling land, scattered hills on the horizon, and fields watered from wells, canals and tanks. The Mettur Dam, one of the largest reservoirs on the Kaveri, lies a short distance away.
