La mappa
Jimo is a district of Qingdao in Shandong province, north of the city's main urban area and not far from the Yellow Sea coast. It was a county seat for many centuries before becoming part of the growing metropolis. On a map, a compact older core is set within the wide, orderly blocks of the newer districts that now surround it.
Jimo is known in China for its traditional yellow rice wine, often called Jimo laojiu, and for its long history as a local administrative and trading centre. Wide modern avenues divide the district into large blocks, and farmland and hills lie beyond the built-up edge.
A Jimo map poster shows how an old town and a modern city fit together. The tight streets of the centre, the broad grid around them and the roads leading toward Qingdao and the coast all appear clearly. It is a layered, legible map that rewards a closer look.
The older centre keeps a denser pattern of smaller streets. It sits like a darker knot within the more open layout of the new districts.
Wide avenues divide the modern parts of Jimo into large, regular blocks. The pattern is typical of recent planning in coastal Chinese cities.
Main roads lead out toward central Qingdao and the sea and link the district to the wider city around Jiaozhou Bay.

Perché Jimo
Jimo is home to many families whose roots go deeper than modern Qingdao. A map of the district connects that longer local story with the city as it is today.
