La mappa
Jinchang Map Poster & Print
Jinchang lies in the Hexi Corridor of Gansu, the long, narrow passage between high mountains and desert that once carried the Silk Road. The city was built largely in the second half of the twentieth century after a major nickel deposit was discovered here, and it is often called China's nickel capital. That origin shows in its planned, orderly layout.
On the map the streets form a broad, regular grid of wide avenues and large blocks, with public squares and parks placed at intervals. Mines and processing works sit apart from the residential core, their extensive compounds visible as large geometric shapes. Around the city the land is dry and open, with irrigated fields forming patches of green.
To the south, the Qilian Mountains rise along the horizon, and snowmelt from them feeds the oases that make life possible in this arid region. A Jinchang map poster brings out the clarity of a city designed from scratch: straight lines, clear divisions between work and home, and a compact urban shape surrounded by the wide spaces of north-western China.

Industrial compounds
Mining and metal-processing works occupy large areas beyond the residential districts. Their rail spurs and long buildings form strong rectangular shapes on the map.
Desert edges
Beyond the built-up area the grid gives way to open dry land and irrigated fields, so the city appears as a compact, sharply bounded shape.

Perché Jinchang
Una mappa che ha un significato
Jinchang has been home to generations of miners, engineers and their families, many of whom came from elsewhere to build it. A map of the city marks that shared story and the streets where it unfolded, simple and precise like the plan itself.
Personalise the title, subtitle and coordinates line, then choose Classic black and white for sharp contrast or Blueprint to echo the city's engineered layout. Noir, Paper and Sand are also available. Files are 300 DPI, with no watermark.
